J. 唐纳德·休斯(1932—2019),环境史研究的先驱者之一,曾任美国科罗拉多州丹佛大学约翰·埃文斯杰出历史学教授、美国环境史学会刊物《环境史》的编辑,美国环境史学会和欧洲环境史学会的创始会员,主要著作有:《什么是环境史》《世界环境史:人类在地球生命中的角色转变》《地中海地区:一部环境史》《潘神之苦:古代希腊人和罗马人的环境问题》。
