约翰·霍普金斯大学David M. Lampton教授唁函

Colleagues: Ren Donglai taught at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center from nearly the institution's start. Cherished by all the students I ever met at HNC over his many years there, he had an infectious laugh and a curiosity that led him to undertake in-depth archival research in the United States to try to understand the implications of a presidential system as well as a rule of law system energized and overseen by a powerful and independent court system. It was in recognition of his research, the contributions this research made at home and abroad, not to mention his student legacy, that Johns Hopkins recently inducted Donglai into the Hopkins "Society of Scholars." This was recognition of all that he achieved and the pride that Johns Hopkins as an entire university had in its association with him. This honor was presented to him in the last days of his life.
