I want to express my deepest sympathy for your loss and reiterate what you already know, that Ren Laoshi was a great man and will be terribly missed by everyone who has attended HNC. I took Ren Laoshi's class on Sino-US relations in the fall of 2011 and it was by far my favorite class, and Ren Laoshi my favorite professor. I know that many students felt the same way. He had so much energy and enthusiasm for the subject matter, and was so genuinely excited to teach us that we couldn't help but be excited too. I will always picture him as he was every day in class: gesticulating wildly and talking at rapid speed about 中美关系, barely even pausing his speech to take a drink of his ever-present green tea. And he was always smiling, which I loved. Everyone at HNC will miss Ren Donglai and will remember him as the wonderful professor and friend that he was to us all. I hope you are able to find joy in your memories and the fact that he will never be forgotten.
